Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lancaster Station deputies and Los Angeles County Fire personnel responded to a Mobil gas station around 3:48 p.m. at 25th Street West and Ave J for a report of a collapsed structure.

Upon arrival, LACoFD personnel found part of the roofing structure had fallen and struck a vehicle that was occupied at the time.

Lancaster Code Enforcement officers were also on scene investigating the incident. Gusty wind may have played a roll in the collapse of the structure as the Antelope Valley experienced winds up to 20 mph Thursday afternoon.

The occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local area hospital and declined to give a statement. Employees of the business also declined a statement regarding the incident.

The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
