1 Injured in House Fire with Excessive Storage, Pet Saved by Firefighters

North Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA: A woman was injured and her dog was saved by firefighters after a fire erupted in a single family home in the North Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles within the San Fernando Valley Friday night.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived just after 8:00 p.m. Jan. 6, to the reported fire on the 5800 block of North Cartwright Avenue and found smoke showing from the attic of a home.

Firefighters located a 55-year-old woman with burn injuries who was transported in moderate condition by LAFD to a local hospital, according to the fire department.

Firefighters were able to save the woman’s dog from inside the home unharmed. LAFD reported the dog was being cared for by a neighbor.

LAFD reported it took 20 firefighters 19 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish a contents fire that extended into the attic inside of a one-story home that contained excessive storage within.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

LAFD requested arson investigators to the location and the Los Angeles Police Department to the scene for a person of interest.
