LOS ANGELES, Apr. 12 (KNN) — A two-vehicle traffic collision Thursday night left one person dead and two others – a young adult male and child – hospitalized.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles at 9:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Figueroa Street in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
Arriving firefighters found two people trapped and one additional party not trapped. Crews immediately worked to free the trapped victims using hydraulic tools to roll back the wreckage.
Once firefighters were able to access the patients, one was found to be deceased, reported Nicholas Prange, spokesperson for the LAFD. The other two were transported to a local hospital via LAFD ambulance.
At the time of the collision, a 20-year-old male was reported to be in serious to critical condition, and the approximately 5-year-old boy is in moderate condition.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the fatal collision.
