Santa Monica Mountains, Los Angeles County, CA: Six people were injured including one killed in what California Highway Patrol is calling a high-speed collision on Malibu Canyon Road approximately one quarter mile south of Piuma Road in unincorporated Santa Monica Mountains.

The collision was initially reported at 8:33 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022. Four patients were airlifted by Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopters to local trauma centers in critical condition. One victim was treated and transported by McCormick ground ambulance to a local hospital. A final victim was pronounced deceased at the location.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were at the scene initially, however, the incident is being investigated by CHP West Valley division. LACoFD triaged the injured patients at the scene and determined best method of transport to hospitals. Malibu Canyon road was closed both north and southbound for an unknown duration.
LA County Coroner was notified. CHP stated off camera that speed was a factor and the vehicle which caused the collision was on the wrong side of the road at the time of impact. More details are not available at this time.
