LANCASTER, Calif., May 21 (KNN) — At least one person was fatally struck by gunfire during an apparent shoot-out early Tuesday evening in the city of Lancaster.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the area of Corkwood Avenue and West Avenue H-12 around 7:13 p.m. for reports of multiple shots fired and at least one person down in the street.
Upon arrival, deputies located at least one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. L.A. County paramedics at the scene rendered aid to the victim, who was then rushed to a local area hospital in critical condition.
Deputies at the scene began their investigation by going door-to-door and looking for camera footage of the incident. While investigating, the deputies received an update that the victim had succumbed from his injuries. Homicide detectives were immediately summoned to the scene.
There is at least one outstanding suspect, however, deputies have not released suspect information at the time of this report.
The crime scene was cordoned off as deputies were observed placing multiple evidence markers in the street.
No further details have been released at this time.
