1 Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Off 105 Freeway Into Tree

DOWNEY, CA, July 8 (KNN) — A driver of a van was killed overnight in a single-vehicle crash off the 105 Freeway into a tree.

The Downey Fire Department and California Highway Patrol received a call shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday regarding a van that had swerved and collided with a tree on the westbound 105 Freeway at the Lakewood off-ramp.

Units arrived and reported finding one vehicle into a tree on the off-ramp from the 105 Freeway with only one patient.

Downey FD worked to rescue the single occupant inside the crashed van. Once firefighters were able to secure the van from rolling down the embankment, they gained access and determined the patient to be deceased at the scene.

CHP had the off-ramp closed for an unknown period if time. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
