1 Killed in Violent Crash Into Light Pole in Canoga Park

CANOGA PARK, LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31 (KNN) — A vehicle was found wrapped around a light pole leaving one person trapped with fatal injuries after a violent crash early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:12 a.m. in the 6800 block of North Topanga Boulevard in Canoga Park. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the incident along with the fire department.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arriving at the scene of the crash, found a wrecked vehicle wrapped around a light pole with one person trapped inside.

Firefighters worked to free the trapped person, however, the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene still inside the wreckage.

Theo, who had heard the crash and spoke to Key News Network on-camera, said he was at the Chevron station in the area with a friend when they heard what sounded like a loud explosion and thought maybe it had happened just around the corner. They then set out to see if anyone needed help, but no one was in sight, so they kept walking and walking until the saw ambulances heading to the scene.

Once at the scene, Theo said he had never seen anything like it in his life. “It’s quite bad.”

The victim has not yet been identified. The LAPD is investigating the cause of the crash.
