SANTA CLARITA, Calif., May 12 (KNN) — Two vehicles were involved in a violent, fatal, head-on traffic collision in the Canyon Country neighborhood of Santa Clarita late Saturday night.
The two-vehicle collision at Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, first responders located a wrecked white Toyota Corolla with one person in the passenger side who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second vehicle involved – a black SUV – was found on its side with major collision damage.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene to block off the intersection and waited for California Highway Patrol officers to arrive and handle the crash investigation.
Per initial CHP information regarding the incident, one of the drivers appeared to be intoxicated and driving at high speeds prior to the collision. One party was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Family members of those who were involved in the traffic collision were observed crying and hugging at the scene.
