ONTARIO, Calif., Mar. 13 (KNN) — One person died after being trapped inside a wrecked vehicle involved in a high-speed, single-vehicle crash overnight in the city of Ontario.
The Ontario Police Department and fire department received multiple 911 calls of a traffic collision with fire shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at South Euclid Avenue and East Philadelphia Street.
Once officers and firefighters arrived on scene, they located a person trapped inside an overturned, mangled vehicle.
Firefighters managed to extricate the person from the vehicle and immediately attempted lifesaving measures, but ultimately, firefighters and paramedics pronounced the patient deceased at the scene.
Raul, who had just got off work, spoke to Key News Network on-camera and said he heard a loud explosion and initially thought it was a tire. The sound was so loud that neighbors from everywhere came outside to see what had happened. Raul also said he didn’t hear tires screeching before the crash.
It is not known at this time, if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal crash.
Ontario PD had all southbound lanes of Euclid Avenue closed as they investigated the incident.
