1 Male Killed in Bakersfield Shooting, Investigation Underway

BAKERSFIELD, CA, Sept. 24 (KNN) — One male was fatally wounded in a shooting in the city of Bakersfield Sunday afternoon.

The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the 1000 block of 6th Street shortly after 2 p.m. for a ShotSpotter activation followed by 911 calls reporting a victim suffering from major injuries, according to the Bakersfield PD in a press release of the incident. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Bakersfield PD said the identity of the deceased will be determined by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

On Monday, Sept. 25, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim in a press release as Manuel Alejandro Figueroa, 32, of Bakersfield. A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause and manner of death.

There is no suspect information at this time. Homicide investigators responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
