SILVER LAKE, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 (KNN) — A multi-vehicle traffic collision early Tuesday morning on the 5 Freeway in the Silver Lake area left one person trapped and multiple others injured.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel and California Highway Patrol officers responded to a traffic collision on the southbound I-5 Freeway under the Glendale overcrossing shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Original reports of five to six vehicles involved in the crash were later updated to four vehicles. The collision was so severe that one vehicle’s engine was blown into multiple lanes approximately 50 feet from the vehicle.
The LAFD evaluated five victims at the scene, some of which requested not to be transported by LAFD paramedics against medical advice. One female victim was taken to a local area hospital.
All lanes of the southbound I-5 were closed while crews worked to clear the freeway.
