ENCINO, LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (KNN) — A 14-year-old female was identified as the driver of a vehicle involved in a fiery crash early Tuesday morning in Encino which left a passenger deceased at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers with LAPD’s West Valley Station attempted to stop a vehicle around 12:15 a.m. traveling southbound on Balboa Boulevard without headlights. The officers did not engage in a pursuit when the vehicle took off and then turned onto Ventura Boulevard.
Shortly after, the vehicle had struck a building in the 16800 block of Ventura Boulevard, said the LAPD.
The badly damaged vehicle was found on fire at a light pole. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the location and quickly doused the flames.
One rear passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 14-year-old driver and front seat passenger were transported to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics, according to the LAPD. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division is investigating the fatal crash.
