JURUPA VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 5 (KNN) — A 14-year-old juvenile was trapped before being quickly rescued from a house fire in the city of Jurupa Valley shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews responded to a single-story, single-family home engulfed in flames in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue. Due to the size of the fire, a second response was requested.
Public Information Specialist Maggie Cline De La Rosa with Cal Fire/Riverside County FD, who spoke to KNN at the scene, said a rescued juvenile from the fire was transported to a local community hospital via ambulance with unknown-type injuries.
Firefighters worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures while crews defensively battled the flames.
In an update later Thursday morning, the fire department reported a second civilian patient was transported to an area hospital via ambulance. The Red Cross was requested to assist eight displaced residents.
Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies had Pacific Avenue closed in both directions.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
