17-Year-Old Arrested for Murder of Liquor Store Clerk in West Covina

WEST COVINA, CA, Oct. 14 (KNN) — A teen has been arrested for the murder of a clerk at Big Bob’s Liquor & Market that occurred on Oct. 8. 2023, in West Covina.

West Covina police detectives announced the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile on Thursday, who resides in East Los Angeles. The teen was captured on surveillance video in a white shirt at the location

The store clerk, identified by authorities as Karanvir Singh, 34, was shot and killed while working at the store around 8:45 p.m.

West Covina PD responded to the 1400 block of West Puente Avenue for a shooting, and upon arrival, discovered the store clerk suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital, but did not survive, reported the West Covina PD in a press release at the time of the incident.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has filed charges for first-degree murder. The teen is currently being held at a local juvenile detention center and was scheduled to appear at the Pomona Courthouse on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023.
