VALLEY GLEN, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (KNN) — A male pedestrian on the 170 Freeway was struck by multiple vehicles resulting in his death late Thursday night.
California Highway Patrol officers and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a reported rollover crash at 11:36 p.m. on southbound lanes of the 170 Freeway south of Sherman Way.
Officers arrived to find a body in lanes and one vehicle flipped over in the HOV lane. LAFD paramedics declared a male deceased at the scene. One person, possibly the driver of the overturned vehicle, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, it was determined that a male pedestrian was running in traffic lanes and was struck by multiple vehicles, with one vehicle fleeing the scene. Currently, there is no description of the vehicle that fled the scene.
The closure of three of the five lanes of the southbound 170 for approximately three hours impacted traffic.
The details of this crash are subject to change upon further investigation by the CHP West Valley Area office.
