Teen Male Shot in South Los Angeles Neighborhood

Central-Alameda, Los Angeles, CA: A teenage male was shot in the lower abdomen early Thursday morning in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Central-Alameda.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division officers responded to a shooting in Central-Alameda and located the victim mid-block on 48th Street just west of Hooper Avenue at approximately 12:13 a.m.

According to the LAPD, the 17-year-old male victim was standing in front of a location on the 1200 block of 48th Street with a friend when they heard multiple gunshots being fired east of their location and the victim was struck.

He was transported by LAFD paramedics to a local hospital in stable condition, LAPD reported.

Officers located a dozen or more bullet casings at the intersection of Hooper and 48th Street as seen on Key News Network video from the scene.

There is no suspect information, according to the LAPD. It is unknown if this incident is gang related.
