SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (KNN) — Gunfire erupted inside a Ralphs supermarket in Sun Valley late Tuesday night, leaving a 19-year-old male fatally shot and another teen injured.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the Ralphs supermarket on the 8300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Authorities set up a crime scene inside one of the store’s aisles, and a perimeter was also established outside the market.
LAPD officers reviewed the store’s security footage and observed a physical altercation between two groups. One person opened fire at the other group, striking two individuals, according to the LAPD’s news release of the incident.
An unknown person transported one individual to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. He is described as a 19-year-old male. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The second individual, an 18-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
LAPD officers later located and arrested 18-year-old Jorge Armenta for murder. He was booked at Van Nuys Jail with $2,000,000 bail, according to the news release.
