Bell Gardens, Los Angeles County, CA: A man was heading to the hospital under police supervision after slamming into four parked vehicles along Florence Avenue in the city of Bell Gardens early Monday morning, Feb. 13.
Los Angeles County firefighters were dispatched to a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles with two cars on fire on the 5900 block of Florence Avenue shortly before 1:15 a.m.
Original reports indicated that someone had possibly been trapped inside, however, once firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered all four vehicles to be unoccupied.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire that was engulfing a white Scion sedan and a silver Mustang.
Police quickly located the driver responsible for the crash on El Selinda Avenue just north of Florence Avenue and placed him into custody.
The suspect had sustained multiple unknown injuries from the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance with a police officer riding along.
Initial reports indicate the hit-and-run driver was driving the white Scion westbound on Florence Avenue at high speeds when he crashed into the back of a parked Mustang. The force of the impact entangled the Scion with the Mustang, causing the Mustang to be dragged another 50 feet before they both smashed into two more parked vehicles.
Once the cars came to a rest, the Scion caught fire and extended to the back of the Mustang.
No other injuries were reported in the fiery wreck.
The driver was suspected of possibly driving under the influence as well. Bell Gardens PD continues to investigate the incident.
