COMPTON, Calif., Dec. 3 (KNN) — A man and a woman were killed in a shooting late Monday night in Compton, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives responded to the 900 block of South Central Avenue at about 11:07 p.m. after reports of gunfire, according to the department’s Homicide Bureau.
LASD Homicide detectives learned during the ongoing investigation that a man and a woman were sitting in a car at the location when a male suspect arrived and intentionally crashed his car into their vehicle.
After the collision, the man and woman exited their vehicle. The man ran toward a gas station as the suspect shot at him, but he was not struck by gunfire, according to the LASD.
“The female ran into a local business where the suspect followed her and proceeded to shoot her. She was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the LASD reported. “The suspect was also found inside the location with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
The Compton City Fire Department responded and treated the suspect at the scene, who was then transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The LASD said the male victim was transported to a local hospital for injuries likely due to the vehicle collision.
The relationship between the suspect and the victims is part of the ongoing investigation, the LASD stated. The investigators do not believe this was a random act.
