According to preliminary information, the LAPD stated on X that Southeast Division officers responded to a robbery call in the 9200 block of Central Avenue shortly after 9 p.m.

At some point after the arrival of officers, a shooting occurred that left two of them injured, the details of which remain unclear at this time.

The LAPD initially reported that the suspect fled westbound on 92nd Street on foot, where the involved officers set up a containment.

“After an extensive search involving K9 officers, the suspect was located hiding inside a parked vehicle. When the officers took the suspect into custody, they discovered he was suffering from an injury to his leg,” stated the LAPD.

The LAPD said both officers sustained injuries as a result of the shooting and were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for their wounds. Both are in stable condition.

LAPD’s Force Investigation Division and Robbery Homicide Division are in the early stages of this investigation as there are multiple witnesses to interview, as well as the officers involved, said the LAPD. Investigators still have body-worn video cameras, physical evidence and any other video to examine.

Any further updates to this incident will be added to this report.
