VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES, May 16 (KNN) — A multiple victim shooting occurred overnight in an area near Walmart, at Roscoe Boulevard and Tobias Avenue in Van Nuys.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Division responded to the location around 2:38 a.m. for an “assault with a deadly weapon shooting” call and met with the first victim, a 32-year-old male, according to Officer Drake Madison, spokesperson for the LAPD.
The victim told officers that he was in the area when a Black male suspect approached on foot and shot him, said Madison. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
Information from the scene indicated that the man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Responding Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported him to a local area hospital in stable condition.
The second victim – a 41-year-old man – was later located at approximately 3:35 a.m., when officers responded to a second call in the area at the 7-Eleven located in the 7800 block of Van Nuys Boulevard. He had told officers that he was in the area when he heard an argument and gunshots. He did not see the suspect but was struck by gunfire.
LAFD paramedics transported the second victim to a local area hospital in stable condition, according to Madison. It was indicated at the scene that the victim suffered from a gunshot wound to the chest.
It is not known at this time if the shooting was gang related.
