ONTARIO, Calif., May 17 (KNN) — One driver was critically injured in a violent head-on traffic collision late Thursday night in the city of Ontario.
Ontario police officers and the Ontario Fire Department responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of North Campus Avenue and East 4th Street at approximately 11:15 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located two vehicles with major traffic collision damage.
According to Ontario Police Department’s PIO Corporal Guerrero on camera with KNN at the scene, two injured male adult drivers were transported to a local hospital. One driver was in critical condition at the time of transport.
It is unknown which vehicle is at fault at this time, said Guerrero. However, it appears that one of the pickup trucks was traveling southbound on Campus Avenue at a high rate of speed, and the other pickup truck – the white truck – was traveling westbound on 4th Street.
A fire hydrant was sheared in the collision along with residential property damage, according to Guerrero. The actual residence was not struck, but the exterior fence was damaged.
Ontario PD had the scene and nearby streets closed for approximately two to three hours for traffic investigators to conduct their investigation into the cause of the crash.
Any witnesses to this collision are asked to please call the Ontario Police Department at (909) 395-2001.
