The shooting was initially reported at approximately 10:00 p.m. on the southeast corner of San Pedro and 7th in front of the “Stop 7 Market”.

While responding, Los Angeles Police Department Central and Newton Division officers were informed that an individual wearing a security shirt was possibly a suspect.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and transported the first victim in serious condition. When officers arrived, they took the security officer into custody, but it was later determined he was a victim and not a suspect in the shooting. The security officer was also taken to a local area hospital in unknown condition.

LAPD officers then reviewed security camera footage in the liquor store and identified the suspect in the shooting as a male Black wearing a black Adidas track suit with a stripe on the side. The suspect was last seen heading southbound on San Pedro and out of view.

LAPD cleared the liquor store and connected businesses and were unable to locate the suspect. Officers did follow a blood trail through the liquor store from the suspect suggesting he had also been injured in the shooting.

It is unknown at this time if the security guard intervened in the shooting and possibly injured the suspect.

LAPD Newtown Division is handling the investigation.
