2 Vehicles Burn in Apartment Complex Carport

Whittier, Los Angeles County, CA: Two vehicles burned in a carport that potentially threatened nearby apartments Monday night, Jan. 9, in the city of Whittier.

Los Angeles County Fire Department and Whittier Police Department received a call at 10:15 p.m. for a garbage fire on the 12400 block of Dorland Street.

Upon arrival, LACoFD reported two vehicles were found fully involved with smoke and fire showing from a carport with no apartments exposed.

Fire dispatch upgraded the call to a structure fire.

LACoFD contained the flames to the carport protecting nearby structures from exposure. At least one of the vehicles appeared to be completely destroyed.

Whittier PD is investigating the fire. The cause is currently unknown.
