SAN GABRIEL NATIONAL FOREST, Calif., Nov. 4 (KNN) — A Los Angeles County Fire Department engine overturned while responding to a cliff rescue Sunday evening, leaving three firefighters injured.
The fire engine overturned shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Highway 39 at mile marker 24.51 in the San Gabriel National Forest.
According to the LACoFD, three firefighters were treated for minor injuries at the scene and transported to a local hospital. The cause of the crash and whether speed was a factor are currently unknown.
Azusa police officers closed Highway 39 to traffic as they overturned the fire truck, which was within an inch of going down the hillside and into the reservoir.
California Highway Patrol’s Baldwin Park office is investigating the crash.
