SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (KNN) — A two-vehicle crash resulted in an infant gravely injured and reportedly in cardiac arrest, according to Los Angeles Fire Department information gathered at the scene. One person was handcuffed following a DUI investigation.
The crash, which was first reported as a two-vehicle collision shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, occurred on northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Highway 14 and the Newhall Pass in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles.
The California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles police officers, along with the Los Angeles City and County fire departments responded to the scene and found an infant in cardiac arrest with two vehicles heavily damaged — one in middle lanes and one into a bridge retaining wall.
The infant was transported in grave condition to an area trauma center.
The cause of the crash was not made publicly available, however, CHP officers conducted field sobriety tests on one person who was subsequently handcuffed following the DUI investigation.
