Stolen Trailer Suspects Taken Into Custody Near USC

UNIVERSITY PARK, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 (KNN) — At approximately 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, University of Southern California police officers informed the Los Angeles Police Department they were following grand theft auto suspects in the area of South Figueroa Street and West Adams Boulevard in the University Park neighborhood.

USC PD observed the suspects in a white pick up truck steal a small trailer that was parked at an unknown location. USC PD began following the suspect as they tried to evade officers.

At one point during the following, the suspects exited their vehicle and detached the trailer from the truck at Portland Street and West 28th Street leaving it in the middle of the road.

An LAPD airship arrived and was able to track the vehicle as it entered the northbound 110 Freeway.

Officers confirmed a crime was committed and performed a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at the 105 and Crenshaw.

A male and female were both taken into custody.

LAPD units in the area were working overtime to help patrol and prevent property theft around USC just like this incident.
