Single-Vehicle Crash Causes Chain Reaction Traffic Collision on 405 Freeway, 1 Dead in Lanes

LONG BEACH, CA, Aug. 28 (KNN) — A single-vehicle crash caused a chain reaction traffic collision overnight on the 405 Freeway, leaving one person deceased at the scene, according to authorities.

The California Highway Patrol received calls shortly after 12 a.m. Monday regarding a traffic collision with a driver out of the vehicle running in lanes on the southbound 405 Freeway just before Pacific Avenue in the city of Long Beach.

The driver jumped over the center divider and was then struck by multiple vehicles traveling northbound on the 405 Freeway.

CHP had a hard closure heading northbound, and on the southbound side CHP had the number 1, 2, and 3 lanes closed for an unknown duration for the investigation.
