The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lakewood deputies responded to the 5000 block of Lakewood Boulevard in the city of Lakewood shortly after 12:30 a.m. regarding a male prying into an ATM attached to the main bank structure.

Store surveillance teams watched the man live as he broke into the ATM and allegedly crawled through the ATM and into the closed bank.

Sheriff’s deputies surrounded the building and attempted to get the man to surrender by crawling back out through the ATM, but he would not comply.

Deputies eventually had to break into the closed and locked bank to get to the man. After an hour, the suspect was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m.

It is unclear if any money was stolen from the bank.

No injuries were reported.
