Firefighters Rescue 2 People From Steep Canyon Terrain Off Mulholland Drive

STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29 (KNN) — Two people were stuck on a steep canyon hillside prompting a rescue response from the fire department overnight.

The Los Angeles Police Department and fire department received a call shortly before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, regarding two people that had jumped off the side of Mulholland Drive into a steep canyon hillside to avoid a car that was allegedly trying to run them over.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s air unit was overhead and spotted the victims dangling approximately 15 feet down the steep terrain on the 8500 block of Mulholland Drive in Studio City.

Fire resources used a rescue basket to hoist one of the injured parties back up to the overlook on Mulholland.

The injured party was transported to a local hospital by LAFD firefighter/paramedics. The specific injuries to the patient were not immediately known.

LAPD is investigating the incident.
