Victim Injured, Vehicle Struck by Gunfire During Armed Robbery

SIMI VALLEY, CA, Aug. 30 (KNN) — A victim was pistol-whipped and his SUV was struck by gunfire during an armed robbery in a parking lot early Wednesday morning.

Simi Valley police officers responded to a robbery in progress with shots fired around 4:20 a.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 5100 block of East Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley.

Upon arrival, officers learned the victim was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot when he was approached by two adult Hispanic males, according to the Simi Valley PD.

One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded all of his property. During the robbery, the victim was struck in the head with the firearm, which discharged a round into the victim’s vehicle, reported the Simi Valley PD.

The police department said the victim sustained a laceration to the back of his head. A bullet hole was located through the passenger door of the vehicle by officers at the location.

The suspects fled the scene in a black pickup truck eastbound on Los Angeles Avenue.

It is not known at this time what property was stolen from the victim.
