Shooting of Victim at Shopping Center Under Investigation

PALMDALE, CA, Aug. 30 (KNN) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Palmdale Station is currently investigating the shooting of a victim at a shopping center Thursday morning.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of East Palmdale Boulevard at a shopping center shortly before 11:30 a.m. where shots fired and a person down were reported.

Upon arrival, deputies located an individual suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel and paramedics responded to the location and treated the victim who was then transported to a local area hospital in unknown condition.

R. J. Lazcano told Key News Network on camera at the scene that he heard a gunshot and saw the victim fall near the Dollar General store. The victim was bleeding and the police were called.

Lazcano said he did not see the shooter.

“I just don’t understand why someone would shoot someone like that…he looked like he was homeless,” said Lazcano.

No further details were readily available as this incident is still under investigation.
