Church in Van Nuys Vandalized, Suspect Outstanding

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 11 (KNN) — A church was vandalized Monday morning at approximately 2:40 a.m., but the suspect got away.

The incident occurred at the Van Nuys Seventh-Day Adventist Church located on the 14600 block of Sherman Way in Van Nuys.

An unknown male suspect broke into the bottom floor of the church and began breaking windows out of the building.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division officers responded to the location and observed a suspect inside the church fleeing into the parking area to the north.

Officers requested additional units to search the area for the outstanding suspect, but no one was found.

Initial reports indicated that a woman was heard screaming in the area, but officers were unable to locate any victims.

Approximately 10 windows were broken and rooms inside damaged by the suspect. The main room damaged appeared to be a classroom.
