The incident began shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday evening when 911 callers reported a man running inside Toppers Pizza on the 23700 block of Valencia Boulevard near City Hall. The caller stated the man was shouting about taking fentanyl.

Deputies responded to the area and searched for the shirtless man who, at this point, was running into traffic.

As the units drew closer, the man began shouting “Don’t kill me” shortly before taking off on foot and jumping into a car and driving off.

The deputies lost sight of the man who at the time was driving the wrong way, eastbound in westbound lanes, on Magic Mountain Parkway.

The man foot bailed out of the vehicle and began shouting, once again, about fentanyl.

The man ran westbound on Magic Mountain Parkway before surrendering to deputies in front of Toppers Pizza, where he promptly apologized for using drugs and promised to never do it again.

The man was transported to the hospital for detox.
