Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Metrolink Train in Florence-Graham

FLORENCE-GRAHAM, CA, Sept. 30 (KNN) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrolink train Friday night in the unincorporated community of Florence-Graham within Los Angeles County.

Authorities received calls around 9:41 p.m. Friday regarding a pet on the tracks and a Metrolink train that had struck a pedestrian at East 92nd Street and Graham Avenue.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the location where they found the struck pedestrian who was then pronounced deceased at the scene by the fire department.

Sheriff’s deputies had closed off 92nd Street and Graham Avenue. Metrolink and Union Pacific personnel also arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.

It was not immediately known if there were any passengers on the train.

There was no information regarding the pet that was initially reported on the tracks. It was unclear if the victim was the owner of the pet, or just happened to be on the tracks at the same time.

The investigation into the cause of the fatal incident is ongoing.
