Woman Killed, 2 Children Injured in Multi-Vehicle Freeway Traffic Collision

POMONA, CA, Oct. 4 (KNN) — A woman was killed and two children injured early Wednesday morning in a traffic collision involving three vehicles on the 10 Freeway.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. on the westbound I-10 Freeway at Fairplex. A semi and Kia Forte collided, and a third vehicle, a 2016 Camry, impacted the Kia. The Kia overturned, coming to rest on the hood of the Camry.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded along with California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park officers to the location.

Firefighters pronounced a female in the overturned vehicle deceased at the scene.

Two children inside the overturned Kia were injured. A boy was found inside the vehicle out of safety restraints. The second child, a girl, was seen walking in lanes shortly after the collision. A good Samaritan stopped and helped the girl until first responders arrived.

According to the CHP Baldwin Park Office, a 7-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, along with a 6-year-old boy with major injuries.

A truck driver that witnessed the accident stated that they saw “a little girl walking down the freeway” shortly after the collision. Witnesses also reported that there was possibly an additional female involved who fled the scene.

The HOV, 1, 2, and 3 lanes were closed for an unknown duration.
