Multiple Broken Water Mains Flood Streets, Homes in Lancaster

LANCASTER, CA, Oct. 8 (KNN) — Multiple water mains erupted in a Lancaster neighborhood impacting nearby homes and sending gallons of water into streets.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a reported flood shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sunday, at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Oldfield Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Station 33 discovered at least two main water breaks had occurred which caused flooding in the neighborhood.

Multiple houses were impacted by the gushing water and some homeowners were observed trying to block the water from entering their homes and garages.

The City of Lancaster Public Works arrived shortly after to assist the fire department with shutting off the valves.

Streets affected by the flooding were Cedar and Beech from Lancaster Boulevard to Newgrove Avenue.
