Fatal Collision Involving Motorcycle and Semi Shuts Down 57 Freeway

DIAMOND BAR, CA, Oct. 10 (KNN) — A two-vehicle traffic collision that left a motorcyclist dead, snarled traffic on the 57 Freeway overnight.

The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department received multiple 911 calls around 1:49 a.m. Tuesday regarding a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a semi on the southbound 57 Freeway at Sunset Crossing Road in the city of Diamond Bar.

CHP officers from the Baldwin Park Station were the first on scene and immediately started CPR on the motorcycle rider.

The rider was pronounced deceased by firefighters and paramedics on scene. The driver of the semi was able to make it off the freeway at Grand Avenue and the 60 Freeway in the city of Diamond Bar.

It is not known at this time if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

CHP had all southbound lanes of the 57 Freeway at Sunset Crossing stopped at the time of this report and was in the process of attempting to divert all traffic off at Temple Avenue from the southbound 57 Freeway in the city of Pomona.

A Sig Alert was issued for an unknown duration.
