SOUTH GATE, CA, Oct. 27 (KNN) — A shooting occurred at Legacy High School Thursday night involving a suspect and a Los Angeles School Police Department officer.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in front of the high school just after a football game in the 5200 block of Tweedy Boulevard in South Gate.
Initial reports indicated a suspect attempted to run over an officer and an officer-involved shooting occurred causing the suspect to crash their white SUV into a parked vehicle.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large.
Students and families attending the event were rushed into the school’s auditorium for safety during the incident.
South Gate PD and detectives were observed at the scene marking evidence and investigating the incident.
