The collision occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. on the northbound 14 Freeway, just south of the Newhall off-ramp.

The first arriving California Highway Patrol unit found a male wearing only shorts, lying in the center divider on the opposite side of the freeway (southbound HOV lane), according to the CHP. He was reportedly the driver of the RV.

CHP requested a break on both sides of the freeway for Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel to transport the injured man. A SigAlert was issued for two hours for the northbound HOV Lane. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were also at the scene assisting with traffic.
