Firefighters Extinguish Large Encampment Blaze in Baldwin Park

BALDWIN PARK, Calif., Jan. 17 (KNN) — A fire erupted overnight in the area of an encampment in the city of Baldwin Hills.

California Highway Patrol officers from the Baldwin Park Station noticed a large fire off the freeway just before 12:30 a.m. near the 13700 block of Francisquito Avenue and the 10 Freeway.

The CHP was able to locate the fire to the rear of the address where a homeless encampment was discovered behind a structure.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded and were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it spread to buildings.

The Baldwin Park Police Department was on scene and assisting firefighters.
