High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Traffic Collision, 5 Transported to Hospitals

Florence, Los Angeles, CA: A high-speed pursuit that led California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police officers through the streets of South Los Angeles for over thirty minutes, terminated with a crash at the intersection of West Florence Avenue and South Main Street in the unincorporated community of Florence.

The suspect was one of five patients transported to hospitals after the pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle collision at an intersection in the South Los Angeles community of Florence. Zak Holman / KNN

LAPD 77th Division officers began pursuing the suspect vehicle which was reportedly stolen early Thursday morning, Apr. 14. LAPD handed the pursuit over to CHP as the vehicle entered the 405 and 105 freeways.

When the suspect re-entered LAPD jurisdiction, they re-engaged the pursuit. The suspect collided with two other vehicles at the intersection of West Florence Avenue and South Main Street.

Five patients including the suspect, were transported to local area hospitals by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
