The Rialto Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire around 11:15 p.m. on the 1200 block of West Koevering Street where first arriving engines found a well-involved two-story, single-family home with threats to surrounding structures.

Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze while protecting nearby homes. It took firefighters approximately 35 minutes to get the fire under control.

While battling the flames, firefighters and officers learned there were at least five family pets inside the home. Firefighters along with officers from the Rialto Police Department, entered the home and searched for the family pets.

Amazingly, all the pets were located and reunited with their owners. Family members could not believe that the pets survived the fire. The pets ranged from dogs and cats to what looked like a chinchilla named Pichachu.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and will be under investigation.

The home was destroyed in the fire.
