The EPA has joined their fight against prevailing conditions at the landfill and has ordered the site to take immediate action to prevent human harm.

Residents say increases in local cancer rates are tied to benzene, an airborne carcinogen being released by the landfill.

Parents are being asked by the school district if children should be kept inside during recess. Parents have also seen an increase in bloody noses and significant respiratory issues in their children.

Multiple residents spoke passionately about their deep concerns during the press conference Thursday at Hasley Canyon Park in Castaic where many held signs in protest of the landfill.
