An officer with LAPD’s Central Division reported that they had been involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of 9th and Flower streets in Downtown Los Angeles. The collision occurred just after 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Officers deployed spike strips to prevent the vehicle from fleeing the scene and requested an ambulance for two female passengers. One woman was reported to be 60 years old and the other 35, according to the LAPD.

The 35-year-old male driver became belligerent with officers and refused to exit the vehicle after the women complied and were seen taken into custody and detained at the scene.

The driver eventually crawled over to the front passenger seat, opened the door and then dropped to the ground. He was quickly taken into custody without further incident by LAPD officers.

The two women were evaluated for injuries at the scene by responding Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

All three were transported to a local hospital, according to the LAPD.
