Strong Winds Blow Man Off Cliff Into Steep Mountainside Terrain Near Angeles Crest Highway

LA CANÃDA FLINTRIDGE, Calif., Mar. 14 (KNN) — Powerful winds overnight were strong enough to blow a man off Angeles Crest Highway and over a cliff into steep, dark canyon terrain in the La Canãda Flintridge area near the Angeles National Forest.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and Montrose Search and Rescue responded to a man that fell from a cliff on Angeles Crest Highway (CA State Route 2) near Cross Town Trail shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies stated off-camera at scene that the victim was blown off the cliff by strong winds. The victim fell approximately 250 feet down the mountainside below Angeles Crest Highway.

An L.A. County Fire helicopter responded and hoisted the victim to safety, flying him to a local area hospital in unknown condition.
