The Los Angeles County Fire Department along with California Highway Patrol officers with the West Valley Station responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash at approximately 9:24 p.m. Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway near Leo Carillo Beach in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

A Honda CRV was traveling northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when, for an unknown reason, a female Hispanic adult, approximately 25-30 years old, lost control of the Honda and veered across southbound lanes of PCH and collided with a Toyota Yaris that was legally parked on the shoulder, according to Sgt. Jon Relles with the CHP West Valley Station who spoke to Key News Network at the scene regarding the incident.

“The Honda continued over the side of the roadway and collided with a power pole before overturning down the embankment. The driver was ejected from the Honda and was pronounced deceased by rescue personnel on scene,” said Relles.

The two parties with the Toyota Yaris were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Relles.

Relles added that the collision did not occur in the city of Malibu but in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. He also said the parties with the Toyota were inside, or possibly outside of the Toyota when it was struck.

Any witnesses to the fatal crash are asked to contact the CHP West Valley Station at (818) 888-0980.
