Teen Injured in 10 Freeway Shooting in South El Monte

SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif., Mar. 28 (KNN) — A teenager was shot while traveling in a pickup truck on the 10 Freeway in the city of El Monte late Wednesday night.

California Highway Patrol officers from the East Los Angeles Station and Central Station responded to Greater El Monte Community Hospital in the 1700 block of Santa Anita Avenue around 11 p.m. where a 17-year-old shooting victim was transported by private auto to the location.

Due to the teen’s injuries, the patient was transported by ambulance to USC Hospital in the 1500 block of Norfolk Street in the city of Los Angeles. The condition of the teen is unknown at this time.

Per CHP radio traffic, the shooting occurred somewhere near the eastbound 10 Freeway between the 710 and the 60 Freeway transition.

The victim’s white pickup truck had multiple bullet holes to the rear of the vehicle seen in the parking lot of El Monte Hospital.

East Los Angeles CHP is assisting Central CHP with the shooting investigation. The circumstances that led up to the shooting are unknown at this time.

CHP is not releasing any details as the investigation is still ongoing.
