SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Mar. 31 (KNN) — A big rig crashed on the I-5 Freeway late Saturday night in the area of Santa Clarita leaving the truck dangerously unbalanced.
The crash occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on the southbound I-5 at the Calgrove off-ramp.
California Highway Patrol officers from the Newhall office responded to a call regarding a semi-truck that had struck about 10 yellow crash attenuators, a sand barrel, freeway sign and K-rail. Approximately 20 gallons of oil was spilling from the tank of the truck.
CHP requested Caltrans to block off the Calgrove off-ramp due to immediate hazard as the big rig was hanging and unbalanced.
A SigAlert was issued by CHP to block off lanes 4 and 5 at 10:42 p.m.
A heavy duty truck was at the scene removing the big rig. No injuries were reported.
