Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision Leaves Hydrant Gushing Water in Downtown Los Angeles

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Apr. 1 (KNN) — A sheared, gushing fire hydrant was the result of a hit-and-run traffic collision in Downtown Los Angeles overnight.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of a sheared hydrant around 12:18 a.m. at the intersection of South Crocker and East 9th streets.

When LAFD personnel arrived at the scene, they located a geyser shooting water approximately 50 feet into the air.

It took crews approximately 20 minutes to shut off the water.

The vehicle that struck the hydrant fled the scene.
